Alexander the Great:

· Wanted to conquer these parts to further expand the Macedonian Empire
· Tamed Bucephalus at the age of 11 years old
· Seemed to be destined for greatness since birth

Philip II:
Philip II king of Macedonia from 359 BC until his death· Father of Alexander the Great
· Death of his older siblings allowed him to take the throne in 359 BC
· Great military skills and diplomatic skills
· These skills allowed him to grow the territories of Macedonia
· Created and led the league a Corinth
· Elected leader of the army that would invade the Persian Empire
· Assassinated early on in the invasion of Persia

Bucephalus:
· Alexander the Great’s horse
· Many tried to tame the great horse, only Alexander the Great succeeded
· Considered the most famous horse in history
· Taller than a normal steed
· Considered too wild to enter battle
· Originally brought to Philip II
· Alexander concluded that Bucephalus was afraid of his own shadow
· Alexander turned Bucephalus toward the sun so that his shadow would be behind him
· Bucephalus and Alexander the Great were inseparable
· Only Alexander the Great may ride Bucephalus
· Alexander the Great rode him into every battle from the conquest of the Greek city states and Thebes through Gaugamala and into India

· Created unique tactics that no one had seen before
· Tactics were so successful that they allowed his army to win battles even when outnumbered
· Army were very loyal to Alexander the Great
· Over the course of thirteen years, his army refused to follow him into battle only once
